Kain-The-Feared vs.{PH}tWANg

Map: The Lost Temple
Pos: Left middle respectively down middle

This was really 'the clash of the titans.' Both of them picked the same race as well as wished eachother's Protoss good luck. The countdown slowly began. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... and that was it. So the match started...

Both players built their Pylon with the eight probe, but they from here chose different ways to go. Kain made one Gateway, then built his seemingly early Assimilator, whilst Twang decided to make two Gateways and another Pylon almost at the same time.

Kain gathered 200 minerals as well as got some Zealots for early protection against Twang's sanguinary fighters from Aiur. With those 200 minerals he began to slowly warp in a Cybernetics Core. Seconds after that a second Gateway was in the process of also being warped in.

After a relatively short moment, Twang decided to expand, and he also got his first Assimilator, and a Forge. Cannons were shortly after that warped in infront his expansion.

Now Kain commanded his four Dragoons and the few Zealots to move towards Twang's Zealot and Cannon-defended base.

More Dragoons were being built, and they soon unifies with the army as well. With great micro-manegement skills Kain suceeded to destroy the newest Cannons one and one without the others being built, and without the Zealots attacking him using the 'Hit 'n' Run' method.

Soon all Cannons were destroyed, and Kain kept running back his Dragoons to kill the chanceless Zealots sent out by Twang.

They did soon bite the dust also. Twang did a last paltry chance to surive by building some Dragoons himself. But Kain's overwhelmed them and began firing at the outmost buildings...

...until Twang said "gg". This was said by all the participants as well as the bystanders. We all congratulates Kain-The-Feared as the champion of the July The Feared Tourney!

Leaf-PBC vs. {PH}tWANg

Map: The Lost Temple
Pos: Down middle respectively top right.

Both players decided to play on the popular map Lost Temple. Both players picked their races as well. Leaf took Zerg whilst Twang decided to command the mighty Protoss armies. So the match started...

Leaf made an Extractor with his ninth drone, making the control say 8/9. He then built another drone (9/9) and canceled the extractor making it 10/9. He then gathered minerals till he had 300, and soon there after another Hatchery was in the process of being made.

Twang in his turn, did a Pylon on eight and then waited for a while to make two Gateways at the same time. Another Pylon was also warped in just seconds later.

The first offensive units were now being produced, four lusty Zerglings joined the Zerg tribe whilst two not lesser healthy Zealots were made to be used for Twang. 16 Zerglings seemed to be enough for Leaf, and he expanded. But not to his natural expansion as what I thought. He expanded to the 'hidden' expansion at 12 (below the main at 12 o clock). What a sneaky little move. Meanwhile Twang was warping in a Forge and a Cybernetics Core (yes, he had built an Assimilator but I didn't see when), and he also built a Pylon by his ramp.

Leaf made an Extractor, and got some more Zerglings. And when he had 100 gas collected he upgraded his first little homely Hatchery to a great winsome Lair.

Twang seemed to know what he was doing. Cannons were warped in outhermost, whilst a Citadel of Adun was being produced in his versatile base. When it was fully warped he also built a Templar Archieves as well as a pylon below his ramp. He was ready to expand. No lesser said than done, another Nexus was built and also some more Cannons for protection.

 screen23.PCX (293817 bytes)

Leaf made a pompous Spire and expanded his tribe to top middle main. Some more minerals were gathered, and owing to that a poor drone was translated into a egg that should be a Hydralisk Den. The first and the last mentioned were finished at the same time, and the larvaes' genetic code were now able to do both Hydras and Mutas. Leaf took advantage of that.

But Twang kept warping in building and produce units. A third and a fourth Gateway was under contruction now. And along with them a Robotics Facility.

A lonesome probe was about to scout top middle and discern the expansion there, but five not-so-lonesome Mutas killed him just as it was on its way up the ramp. The Mutas proceeded with their attacking and went on a suicide mission to Twang's base. They were soon chased away by two Cannons and a psi-ready Templar.

A Hatchery was being made just by the ramp at top middle, and another Hatchery was hatched in Leaf's main.

The game is now no one's. Both players built defense along with offensive units and stuff. Just as I almost fell asleep Twang's units began to move! 11 loyal Zealots, three revived Protoss units in the shell of a Dragoon, four grossly High Templars, and some invisible Dark Templars were on their way up to the expansion at 12 o clock. But they got no truly resistance. Leaf decided to give it up.

screen25.PCX (283231 bytes)

Poor Leaf, he was now forced to gather gas from only one source of gas whilst Twang expanded a second time - this time to top middle (the natural expansion) - and could therefore gather gas out of three.

Oh well, Twang decided to end this game once and for all. With more Dragoons, Zealots, and Templars he moved his way to Leaf's main. Alot of small weak Zerglings, some stable Hydras and a few protective Mutas awaited them behind the defense of three yet lordly Sunken Colonies.

But one mistake can lead to disaster as you probably know. The Zerg-swarm were not upgraded, but the Protoss forces were.

The Zergling's hit and hit but seemingly without hurting anyone. The Hydra's did some damage, but it was not adequate. The Muta's died too fast against the Dragoon's to make harm at all.

Leaf expanded top left and down right, but it was not to any use.

Twang destroyed all bases he reached to, and "gg" was exchanged.
